Thank you for visiting my gallery. My name is Darcy Ballback Hecht. I have been creative all my life. I began my career as a graphic artist while a student in high school. After receiving my BFA with emphasis in Advertising Art, I continued to pursue a career in graphic design; however, my true love lay in painting and portrait drawing.

My artistic talents are diverse as demonstrated by my use of oils, watercolors, pastels and pencil. I paint realistic landscape murals and paintings; still life and portraits of young and old.

Each new project presents me with an opportunity for growth.

Artist Statement

Many critics place a great amount of importance on awards and honors. Though they are representative of demonstrated artistic skill, to me, the artistic rendition itself is my personal award. Artists should create because they enjoy the process of creating and the beauty demonstrated through their art work. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I believe that each work of art stands on its own and, therefore, should not be disregarded, but rather appreciated for its beauty.
